British Council IELTS
The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and education. Founded in 1934, it works with people in more than 150 countries and has been working in Türkiye since 1940. As one of the co-owners of IELTS, it runs IELTS tests in cities across Türkiye.
IELTS, jointly owned by the British Council, IDP IELTS and Cambridge University Press & Assessment, is the world’s most popular English language test. It assesses Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and is accepted by more than 13,500 organisations worldwide, including over 300 in Türkiye.
In Türkiye, IELTS Academic and General Training are taken on computer at British Council test centres, with results usually within 1–2 days. With IELTS One Skill Retake, candidates can retake a single section within 60 days instead of the whole test. Test centres are in 24 cities: Adana, Aksaray, Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Erzurum, Eskişehir, Gaziantep, İstanbul, İzmir, Karabük, Karaman, Kayseri, Kırklareli, Kocaeli, Konya, Manisa, Mersin, Muğla, Ordu, Samsun, Tekirdağ, Uşak and Van; IELTS for UKVI is held in İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir and Adana.
As of September 2026, computer-delivered IELTS Academic and General Training cost TRY 12,000 and IELTS for UKVI TRY 13,220.
