St Andrew’s College Cambridge is a co-educational independent sixth-form college for day and boarding students aged 15–22 in the centre of Cambridge. Founded in 1976, it is the oldest tutorial college in the city and has been part of the Dukes Education group since 2021. The main college is on Station Road, a five-minute walk from Cambridge station and next to the University Botanic Garden, with London about 50 minutes away by train. It is small by design: most students are international, from more than 30 countries, the average class size is 8, and every student has a personal tutor.
The college offers a one-year GCSE, Pre A-Level and Pre-IB courses, A-Levels over two years, 18 months (January start), 2.5 years or three years (with a first year of English and study skills), a Year 13 A-Level retake and a one-term taster course. Its NCFE-accredited University Foundation Programme runs in Medics & Life Science, Science, Engineering, Computer Science & AI, Humanities and Art & Design streams, usually for one year from September, with January starts also available. Foundation students apply through UCAS to the universities of their choice rather than to one partner university. IELTS and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) classes run throughout the year.
Students use Cambridge University’s facilities: they hold University Library cards, use the University Sports Centre and attend public lectures. Cambridge University PhD students mentor them after school and, in the Student Development Programme, supervise group research projects, alongside regular talks from Cambridge academics. UCAS, Oxbridge, medicine (UCAT) and law (LNAT) application preparation is included in the tuition fee.
In 2026, 40% of A-Level grades were A*/A, 62% A*–B and 80% A*–C. All 2026 University Foundation students progressed to university, 80% of them with Distinction or above, to universities including Manchester, King’s College London, Edinburgh, Sheffield, Bristol and UAL. The college met all the Standards at its November 2025 ISI inspection.
Boarders live in the college’s boarding houses within walking distance of the main building, on full board; students aged 16+ can also choose a homestay. International students need IELTS 5.0 for the one-year GCSE, 5.5 for the one-year University Foundation and 6.0 for the two-year A-Level, and take the college’s English and Maths tests. The fee shown is the 2026/27 annual University Foundation tuition (£11,500 a term, the same for the one-year GCSE, Pre A-Level and Pre-IB); A-Level tuition is £13,860 a term (£41,580 a year). Tuition includes VAT, exam fees and textbooks; accommodation is charged separately.
